To date, the National Quality Agreement dated 18 May 2011 has been signed by all Swiss hospitals and clinics, all insurance organisations and cantons. This form of partnership agreement is considered throughout the world to be a pioneering method of providing for quality improvement in the healthcare sector. In addition to implementation, the agreement also regulates the financing of ANQ reviews.
Tasks, rights and obligations
Hospitals and clinics that have signed the National Quality Agreement are obligated to carry out ANQ reviews; the signing insurers and cantons are required to provide support and cover to ANQ reviews and contribute start-up funding. By signing the agreement, the parties also consent to thoroughly evaluate and ensure transparent publication of review results.
Hospitals, clinics and cantons can join or have joined by completing a participation form. The membership of insurance organisations has been arranged through their professional associations.
